Bellringing in Ambleside

The art of campanology is alive and well in Ambleside
at St Mary's Parish Church.

The present ring of 8 bells (tenor 32 cwt.) were cast by Taylors of Loughborough and replaced the original 6 in 1901. More recently, roller bearings have been installed, making them easier to ring.

We have a band of mixed experience, but we can usually muster 6 ringers for Sunday Service ringing which begins at 10.15 a.m.

Practice night is on a Monday from 7.30 until 9.00 p.m. and visitors are always welcome on either occasion. We are very willing to teach new ringers.

Anyone interested should contact Janet Benson or Peter Gardner (01539 823302).
